About
The Salomon XT-6 was originally released in 2013 as a performance trail running shoe. It is built around three core technologies: an Agile Chassis System for underfoot responsiveness on uneven terrain, an EnergyCell midsole for impact cushioning, and a Mud Contagrip outsole with aggressive lugs for traction across soft and hard ground. In 2023, Salomon released a 10th Anniversary edition limited to 804 numbered pairs priced at $220, constructed to mirror the original 2013 build. The XT-6 crossed from trail performance into streetwear through a sustained series of high-profile collaborations documented across sneaker press: partnerships with JJJJound, MM6 Maison Margiela, SSENSE, END Clothing, atmos, Naked Copenhagen, and SNS, among others. GORE-TEX variants expanded its all-weather appeal, while Salomon's official Sportstyle range gave the model a dedicated lifestyle lane. The XT-6's overtly technical silhouette — exoskeletal overlays, complex lacing system, aggressive outsole geometry — positioned it as a visual counterpoint to the minimal sneakers of the 2010s, and its fashion crossover accelerated sharply through 2023–2026.
