The Nike Mind 001 is a slip-on mule. Nike unveiled it in October 2025 alongside the Mind 002 sneaker and calls the pair its first neuroscience-based footwear. The 'Light Smoke Grey' Mind 001 released on January 8, 2026 at $95. It came out of Nike's Mind Science Department. That group sits inside the Nike Sport Research Lab, and its neuroscientists study what athletes' nervous systems and brains do while they move, using one of the world's few mobile brain and body imaging labs. Under the foot are 22 foam nodes, each independent and anatomically mapped, bonded to a flexible, water-resistant base. As you walk they move like pistons and gimbals and press on key pressure points, so you feel more of the ground. Eric Avar, Nike's VP and Creative Director of Innovation, calls it a sensory-footwear concept that helps reawaken the foot, the body and the mind. The upper is perforated fabric for breathability, laid over a textile topcloth that lets the nodes move. Nike made the shape feel directionless on purpose. It is meant for slowing down, not for speed. Nike sells it as a pregame mule in men's and women's sizes.
