The Crocs Classic Clog debuted in 2002 when founders Scott Seamans, Lyndon Hanson, and George Boedecker Jr. presented a prototype at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show — all 200 pairs produced for the event sold out immediately. The trio had acquired the design from Canadian foam manufacturer Foam Creations, and later purchased the company outright in 2004 to secure exclusive rights to Croslite, the proprietary material at the heart of the product. Croslite is a closed-cell resin foam that provides cushioning, odour resistance, and the shoes characteristic lightweight feel. Initially dismissed by critics for its unconventional appearance, the Classic Clog underwent a cultural rehabilitation through the mid-2010s. A 2015 photograph of Prince George wearing navy Crocs generated a reported 1,500% increase in sales. Gen Zs embrace of comfort-forward footwear drove further growth, and by 2022 Crocs were listed as the best-selling item of clothing on Amazon. The Classic Clog retails at 70 USD and is available across India through brand stores, Myntra, and Amazon India, with strong adoption among younger consumers seeking lightweight everyday footwear.
