About
The Nike Blazer traces back to 1973, when the company released it as a basketball shoe — Nike's third sneaker ever — named after the Portland Trail Blazers, the NBA franchise from Nike's home city of Portland, Oregon. NBA guard George "The Iceman" Gervin became the first athlete to receive an exclusive Nike shoe when he wore the Blazer, which combined a leather upper, nylon tongue, and rubber midsole. The Low '77 designation nods to a Slam Jam collaboration called "Class of 1977," which revived the shoe's late-'70s construction: smooth leather uppers, hairy suede overlays, an exposed foam tongue, and vintage-style branding on the heel. Sneaker press has tracked numerous Low '77 releases, including the classic White/Black "Vintage" colorway (DA6364-101), which launched in December 2020 for . The low-top cut trades the Mid's ankle coverage for a more casual, everyday profile while keeping the same herringbone rubber outsole and retro detailing that carried the silhouette from basketball courts into skate and streetwear culture decades later.
