About
The Nike Blazer is the third shoe the company ever released, introduced in 1973. It was named in honour of the Portland Trail Blazers NBA franchise and quickly became significant when NBA star George "The Iceman" Gervin became the first athlete to receive an exclusive shoe from Nike. The shoe's construction — leather upper, nylon tongue, and rubber midsole — was designed to compete with rival basketball brands including Converse and Puma. The Blazer spent decades quietly in Nike's archive before skateboarding culture rediscovered it, drawn to its flat sole and durable leather build. The '77 Vintage designation references the era aesthetic and is now the most recognisable version of the silhouette. The Blazer Mid '77 has been the canvas for some of Nike's most celebrated collabs: Supreme, Stüssy, Off-White, Sacai, and the Stranger Things Phantom edition have all used the silhouette, cementing its place as one of Nike's most versatile and enduring designs.
