About

The Air Jordan XX8, released nationwide on February 16, 2013 during NBA All-Star Weekend, was the 28th signature shoe in the Air Jordan basketball line. Designed by Tinker Hatfield with Jordan Brand developer Josh Heard, it introduced more technology than any Air Jordan before it. A distinctive zip-up shroud made from Schoeller mesh, a premium Swiss fabric also used in motorcycle jackets, wraps around the upper and can be removed to reveal a lower-cut performance shoe underneath. The design debuted the Jordan Flight Plate, a Pebax moderator plate that compresses and deflects to unlock more responsiveness from the Nike Zoom Air units in the forefoot and heel. Other features include Dynamic Fit technology, with internal straps extending from the midsole and integrating with the laces for a locked-down fit, a carbon fiber molded external heel counter for lightweight stability, and a multidirectional outsole pattern for court traction. At $250, it launched as the most expensive Jordan game shoe to date.
