About

The adidas Crazy 8 began life in 1997 as the KB8, the first adidas signature shoe of a young Kobe Bryant. The name combined Bryant's initials with his uniform number 8, and followed the six-year deal he signed with adidas when he entered the NBA in 1996. After Bryant left for Nike, adidas renamed the model the Crazy 8, and it has returned mainly as a nostalgia retro since. The shoe gained popularity for its Feet You Wear technology and bold design, pairing a nubuck upper with a cushioned EVA midsole, a Torsion system and webbing details. In 2023 adidas reintroduced several classic colourways, including the revered Black/White edition in Core Black, Cloud White and Collegiate Purple, which released on August 15, 2023 at $140 through adidas Basketball retailers and adidas.com. That retro carries the FYW logo on the vamp and medial collar and gold and purple Three Stripes on the heel in homage to the Los Angeles Lakers. The relaunch also replaced the number 8 on the tongue with the Feet You Wear logo.
