Three Nikes glow in the dark this October, and they could not be aiming at more different people. The Air Jordan 5 "Halloween" is a $215 collector pair with shark teeth in Picante Red. The Dunk Low "Shibuya Halloween" is a $130 Tokyo-themed novelty with eyes on the heel. The KD 19 "Halloween" is a $165 performance shoe that happens to be orange. Which one is actually worth the customs bill?
Dates and codes, verified across two sources each. Air Jordan 5 "Halloween," HQ7978-001, Black/Picante Red, 17 October, $215 adult with family sizing, per Sneaker Bar Detroit; some outlets list $220. Nike Dunk Low "Shibuya Halloween," IX5169-300, Bog Green/Black-Luminous Green, $130, October on Nike.com, per Hypebeast and Sneaker Bar Detroit. Nike KD 19 "Halloween," IO8112-600, 23 October, $165, Nike Basketball retailers and Nike.com, per Sneaker Bar Detroit.
The Case for the Air Jordan 5 "Halloween"
It is the only one of the three built like a grail. Black suede across the toe, panels, collar and overlays. Black mesh netting, black laces, black midsole. Then the Halloween bits: glow-in-the-dark green on the Jumpman, the embroidered 23 at the heel, the Nike Air branding and the translucent outsole, with Picante Red shark teeth speckled in black and a red "XXIII" stitched behind the tongue. Sneaker Bar Detroit's official photos from August show restraint most seasonal Jordans lack; in daylight it reads as a black AJ5 with red teeth, which is a shoe people wear in July.
The Jordan 5 is also the silhouette having the best 2026. The Black/University Blue and White Metallic both sold through at Nike India this year, and a glow-sole 5 in black suede is the colourway the Jordan 5 Halloween rumour mill wanted since the Hypebeast leak in February. Our take: this is the one. If you buy one Halloween Nike in 2026, buy this.
The Case for the Dunk Low "Shibuya Halloween"
Weirder, cheaper, and more fun than it has any right to be. The upper mixes bog green and black leather with croc-textured sections that give it a scaly surface, a pair of eyes sits at the heel watching whoever walks behind you, and the outsole glows after dark. The insoles carry SBY branding, a nod to the 2019 Shibuya Air Force 1 drops that included their own Halloween pair. At $130 it is the entry ticket.
The problem is the Dunk itself. Nike told investors this week that its deliberate Dunk pullback cost about $200 million in Sportswear revenue last quarter, which is corporate language for "we made too many and we are stopping." A themed Dunk in 2026 is a shoe Nike is actively trying to make rarer, which should help it, but the base Dunk Low Retro lists at ₹8,295 to ₹11,895 on Nike India and the market for a ₹20,000 landed Dunk with eyes on it is small. Buy it if you collect Shibuya. Otherwise it is a costume.
The Case for the KD 19 "Halloween"
This is the hooper's pick and nothing else. Dark Smoke Grey upper, Bright Crimson accents that land closer to pumpkin orange, small hits of Lime Ice and Stadium Green, a graphic down the lateral side, and a semi-translucent off-white outsole that Sneaker Bar Detroit expects to glow. The silhouette is unchanged from the inline KD 19, which released through the summer at $155, so you are paying a $10 theme tax for the graphic.
Last year's Nike Basketball Halloween pack had five shoes, released together on 21 October 2025. This year the KD 19 is the first 2026 pair to surface with a firm date, and a full pack has not been confirmed as of 2 October. If you play, it is a KD 19 with a better story. If you do not, there is no reason to own it.
India: What Each One Actually Costs
None of the three has an India listing yet. The AJ5 Halloween's launch code HQ7978 shows on Nike India's launch pages, which usually means a SNKRS India drop is planned; the Dunk and the KD have no India signal at all. So assume import pricing and check Nike India on the morning.
At ₹96.29 to the dollar (fxfeed.io, 2 October 2026) and the standard footwear import stack of 35% basic duty, 10% surcharge on the duty and 18% IGST, which compounds to roughly 1.634 times declared value, the landed costs are: AJ5 Halloween at $215, about ₹33,800. KD 19 at $165, about ₹26,000. Dunk Low Shibuya at $130, about ₹20,500. For comparison, the Air Jordan 5 Retro "Reimagined" lists on Nike India at an official price well under that import figure, which is why waiting for the SNKRS India drop on the 17th is the only sane move for the 5.
Verdict
Air Jordan 5 "Halloween" wins, and it is not close. It is the only one of the three that works as a shoe in daylight, the only one on a silhouette with momentum, and the only one with a realistic India retail path. The Dunk is a fun second if you already own Shibuya pairs. The KD 19 is for people who will scuff the glow off on a court by Diwali, which is the right way to treat it.
Resale: none of the three has released, so there is no sale history to quote, and we will not invent one. The AJ5 Halloween is the only pair likely to carry a premium in India after launch, because it is the only pair Indian resellers will bother importing. Treat the others as retail-or-nothing.
Styling the 5: black suede and a glow sole want black cargos and a Picante Red tee you own already. The Dunk pairs with wide olive trousers; let the croc do the talking. Whichever you chase, see what Jordans we have authenticated and in stock if the SNKRS India drop goes the way SNKRS drops usually go.
If the Jordan 5 is the pair, read our Black/UNC AJ5 guide first for sizing on this year's retro last.
