Bad Bunny x adidas Gazelle Indoor "Solar Gold": ₹13,999 in India vs ₹19,800 Imported

The Bad Bunny Gazelle Indoor "Solar Gold" dropped on October 17 at $140, and an Indian listing shows ₹13,999. Importing the same pair would cost about ₹19,800 with duty, so the real question is whether it beats a regular Gazelle at a third of the price.

On October 17, 2026, a honey-yellow suede Gazelle went on sale worldwide for $140. Bad Bunny's name is on it, "benito" is stamped on the quarter, and the style code is KI2592. In India, a listing we track puts the same pair at ₹13,999.

That number is the story. It sits almost exactly where a straight dollar conversion lands, and far below what you would pay to import the pair yourself. So this post is a debate, not a spec sheet: is the Solar Gold worth ₹13,999 when a regular Gazelle costs a third of that?

What adidas and Benito actually built

The facts first. Sneaker Bar Detroit lists the colourway as Solar Gold, Core Black and Gum, at $140, releasing October 17 through adidas.com and select retailers, with registration opening October 13 on the adidas CONFIRMED app. Esquire India gives the same date and price, and Complex's release guide describes the colour as the sunset glow over the Caribbean.

The upper is honey-yellow suede over a leather lining, with black Three Stripes and a gum rubber outsole. It is the Gazelle Indoor, so the sole is flat and low-slung. Per Just Fresh Kicks, the T-toe overlay is carried over from the 1968 Gazelle, and the tongue differs between pairs: some show a black second layer, others an olive green one. Other details are a layered double tongue and an exposed size label at the heel.

Just Fresh Kicks has also been tracking this pair since an earlier reveal in 2025, when the yellow was being called "Crew Yellow". The shoe waited a long time for its release.

The case for paying ₹13,999

Start with the price math. $140 at ₹94.995 to the dollar (open.er-api.com, updated 21 October 2026) is ₹13,299. The Indian listing is ₹13,999, a premium of about ₹700 over a plain conversion. That is a small gap for a pair that arrives with no customs paperwork, no forwarder and no wait.

Now compare it with importing. Using EximPe's Chapter 64 duty stack as at May 13, 2026, which adds 20% basic duty, a 4% cess, a 2.4% surcharge and 18% IGST for about 49.15% in total, the landed cost is roughly ₹19,800 before shipping. The HSN line I checked is for leather footwear, so call that a close estimate, not a ruling. Either way, buying it here saves around ₹5,800.

And then there is the shoe itself. Suede that deep a yellow does not come around often. The gum sole keeps it from looking like a costume, and the black stripes give it a spine. On looks alone, I would call it one of the strongest Gazelle colourways of 2026.

The case for a regular Gazelle

Here is the counter-argument, and it is strong. In our price tracking, a plain adidas Gazelle in India runs roughly ₹4,800 to ₹5,200, and a Gazelle Indoor in a non-collab colourway was listed at ₹11,999. The Bad Bunny pair is ₹13,999. You are paying ₹2,000 over an ordinary Gazelle Indoor for a name and a colour, and nearly ₹9,000 over the base model.

Suede and Indian monsoons do not get along, and yellow suede shows every scuff. If you wear shoes hard, this pair will look tired quickly. A collab Gazelle is a shoe you rotate, not a shoe you walk to the metro in every day.

Not the first Bad Bunny Gazelle

This is a familiar formula for Benito. In July 2025 he released a City Series of Gazelle Indoors named for places in Puerto Rico, and Sole Retriever's report lists Cabo Rojo (JS5052), Santurce (JS5050) and El Yunque (JS5049), each at $140. The Santurce and El Yunque pairs were Puerto Rico exclusives. All three used the same warped T-toe overlay, double tongue, exposed heel size tag and gum sole that the Solar Gold keeps.

So the template is settled and the colour does the talking. That cuts both ways. If you missed those pairs and wanted in, Solar Gold is the easiest entry because it is a worldwide release. If you own one already, this is the same shoe in a louder shade.

What the resale market says

I checked StockX. The listing confirms KI2592, a $140 retail price and a 10/17/2026 release date, but the sale price fields showed "Loading..." placeholders when I fetched them, so I have no verified last-sale or premium figure. I am not going to guess one. With a global release and an open registration window, my expectation is no frenzy at $140, but that is a read, not a data point.

Where this fits in India right now

The low-profile suede trend is the reason this pair makes sense in India at all. We covered the shape of that shift in our piece on the handball Spezial and loafer-sneaker wave, and we also wrote up the Bad Bunny Ballerina earlier. My read is that buyers who already wear slim silhouettes will slot this in easily, and the casual-office crowd will probably like it more than the streetwear loyalists do.

Sizing and the verdict

Sizing note: my rule on a Gazelle is to go up half a size if you are between sizes, because the suede and the flat gum sole give very little. Check the listing's size chart before ordering and avoid buying a size you cannot return.

My verdict is simple. If you like the colour, ₹13,999 is fair and clearly better than importing. If you only want a Gazelle, a standard pair at a third of the cost is the smarter buy. The Solar Gold is a shoe for people who already know why they want it.

One practical tip on buying. Registration for the drop ran through the adidas CONFIRMED app from October 13, and adidas.co.in carries a product page for KI2592, so check there first for stock and sizes. If you buy from anyone else, ask for the style code KI2592 on the box label and compare the tongue and stitching with the official photos before paying.
