Red mesh, a silver cage and a black tongue, out a week before Halloween. The adidas Anthony Edwards 3 "Omen", style code KJ3021, released on 23 October 2026 for $130, and it is the loudest pair the AE 3 has worn so far. Just Fresh Kicks called it a Halloween palette. That is fair. It looks like something you would find lit from below in a horror film poster.
Looks aside, Indian buyers have a different problem. Import the AE 3 now? Or walk into a store and buy the AE 2 that is already on the shelf? We ran both sets of numbers. It is not close.
What the AE 3 "Omen" looks like
Sneaker Bar Detroit and Just Fresh Kicks agree on the basics: KJ3021, 23 October, $130. The mesh is Lucid Red. Silver Metallic goes on the heel clip, on the cage wrapped around the shoe, and underfoot. Tongue and lining are black. A small reflective patch sits near the toe, which is the detail you only notice when a phone flash hits it.
Both outlets flagged the details as reported rather than confirmed before the drop, and Just Fresh Kicks noted that one listing called the red "Solar" instead of "Lucid". Small thing. The style code and date match across both, which is what matters if you are setting an alarm.
Our take on the colourway: it is the best AE 3 yet. The first pair, "Cold Blooded" in white and light blue, released on 18 September according to Black America Web. Clean. Also forgettable. Omen has a point of view. The red is bright enough that the silver cage actually reads as a design element instead of disappearing into a pale upper.
The case for importing the AE 3 now
The AE 3 is a real step forward on paper. When adidas announced it in September, Black America Web's launch report described a stretch knit upper, a TPU cage built to hold the foot through hard cuts, and a reinforced toe for contact. The chevron pattern ties the sole to the upper. Edwards' own line from the launch: "Every time I step on the court, I want a shoe that can help me dominate."
If you hoop seriously and you are a cutter rather than a spot-up shooter, that cage matters. And if you simply want the newest Ant shoe before anyone at your court has it, nothing on an Indian shelf will get you there. Our price tracker, which checks Indian sneaker stores daily, found no AE 3 listed at any of them on 14 October, and we could not find one a week after the release either.
The case for buying the AE 2 in India instead
Now the maths. At the open.er-api rate of ₹95.32 to the dollar (updated 14 October 2026), $130 comes to about ₹12,390 before shipping. Footwear imports into India pay 20 percent basic customs duty, an agriculture cess equal to 4 percent of value, a 2.4 percent social welfare surcharge, then 18 percent IGST on the lot. That stack totals 49.15 percent according to the eximpe breakdown for HS 64039120, with rates as at 13 May 2026. So ₹12,390 times 1.4915 lands near ₹18,480. Add freight and a forwarder's cut and you are past ₹19,000.
The AE 2, on the other hand, is already in India. Same tracker, same morning: several colourways at ₹12,999. Core Black/Gold Metallic/Solar Turbo is one. Haze Coral/Bliss Lilac is another. We also saw one AE 2 listing at ₹9,100, which is the kind of price you grab first and think about later.
That is a gap of roughly ₹5,500 to ₹9,000 for one generation of upgrade. Black America Web itself describes the AE 3 as close to the AE 2 in build and materials. For most players in India, the second shoe does almost everything the third one does.
Resale: there is nothing to read yet
KJ3021 has only been out a week, so there is no settled StockX market yet, only early listings. Anyone quoting you a "premium" on Omen right now is pricing your impatience, not the shoe. There is no AE 3 trading history to lean on, so reason from what it is: a $130 performance shoe made in volume for people who play in it. Shoes like that rarely hold a resale gap once the first week passes. We would not pay over retail for it.
Sizing for Indian feet
adidas sizes run half a size apart between US and UK, so a US 9 is a UK 8.5. Indian stores label in UK sizes, US sites in US sizes, and that half step is where most import returns come from. If you are ordering the AE 3 from abroad, check the adidas chart against a pair you already own rather than guessing.
Width is the other thing. Indian feet often run wider at the forefoot, and a caged basketball shoe holds tighter than a lifestyle sneaker. If you have tried the AE 2 in a store and it pinched, the AE 3's TPU cage will not be kinder. Go half a size up, or try before you commit.
What we would actually pick
For playing: buy the AE 2 in India at ₹12,999 and spend the difference on a second pair of socks and a court fee or ten. Edwards' shoes are built for guards who attack the rim, and the AE 2 already does that. If you sit between sizes, try both on, because performance knits tend to stretch slightly after a few sessions.
For the look, Omen wins. Black cargos, grey hoodie, red shoes. Done. But ₹19,000 for that outfit is silly money when the previous model is on Indian shelves today at ₹12,999. Our bet is that the AE 3 reaches Indian stores too. Wait for it.
