₹16,995. That is the number VegNonVeg has put on the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG "Game Royal" in its Sneaker Launches rail this week, and it is lower than the American sticker once you run the conversion. On 10 October 2026, nine years after the last leather pair, the Royal lands on Indian shelves the same morning it hits Nike SNKRS in the US.
If you buy one Jordan 1 this year, this is the week to pay attention. The Royal is the colourway Michael Jordan wore in the 1985 Nike photoshoot that became the "Flight Guy" poster, and Sneaker Bar Detroit notes he never wore it in an NBA game. That is the whole appeal. It is the Jordan 1 of the posters, not the box scores.
What Jordan Brand changed for 2026
Style code IQ5495-005. Black and Game Royal leather, a white midsole, a royal rubber outsole, a black nylon tongue with a woven Nike Air tag, and the Wings logo debossed into the lateral ankle. Design Scene's breakdown from 1 October lists all of that, and it confirms the part that matters most: this is a leather shoe again. The 2023 "Royal Reimagined" swapped in suede, and a lot of us who bought it felt the suede missed the point. Hypebeast's coverage of that pair put it at $180 under style code DZ5485-042 on 4 November 2023.
House of Heat, which updated its post on 9 October once official photos loaded, says the overall shape and the shade of blue have been reconsidered since 2017, and that this reissue is "as close to the original release as possible." It uses the standard High OG construction rather than the taller '85 cut from the anniversary Bred, so the collar height and panel proportions are the ones most of us grew up seeing. Sneaker Bar Detroit's read on JD Sports UK's photos adds that the blue leather carries more grain than the 2017 pair, especially around the collar and heel.
Then there is the box. The outside carries Chuck Kuhn's 1985 photograph of Jordan standing on an Oregon road in the Royals, and the inside lid prints more frames from the same session. House of Heat's photos show extra laces in there too. Jordan Brand rarely spends money on packaging for a general release, which tells you how it is positioning this one.
Price, sizes and where it is in India
US retail is $185 for adult sizes. Design Scene lists grade school at $140, preschool at $85, toddler at $70 and crib at $55, so the full family run is on. At the open.er-api.com reference rate of ₹96.88 to the dollar on 9 October 2026, $185 converts to roughly ₹17,920 before shipping or duty. VegNonVeg's ₹16,995 is under that. Read it again, because it almost never happens: the Indian retail price is cheaper than the American one.
Try importing one instead. Customs wants 20 percent on the declared value. Then an agriculture cess of 20 percent on that duty, a 10 percent social welfare surcharge on both, and 18 percent IGST on the lot. The ICEGATE-based calculator at eximpe.com adds it up to 49.15 percent. So a forwarded $185 pair lands somewhere near ₹26,700, and the courier has not been paid yet. For a shoe sitting on VegNonVeg at MRP. No.
One more number from the same site. A Retro High OG in Cool Grey, Black and Game Royal, a colourway nobody will remember in 2028, sits at ₹10,295. That leaves a ₹6,700 gap. You are paying it for the 1985 colour block and a box with a photograph on it. Whether that is worth it is the only real question here, and we think it is.
Resale: there is no market yet, and that is the point
StockX already has a product page up for IQ5495-005 with the $185 retail and the 10 October date, but every market field was still loading when we checked, because the shoe has not released. Anyone quoting a premium on Instagram today is pricing your impatience, not a sale. The last comparable data point is the 2023 suede pair at $180 retail, and that one was never a flip. A leather Royal with a full size run and kids' sizes is a wear-it shoe, not a shelf piece. If a seller in a Telegram group tells you it is limited, ask for the style code and the store receipt. A general release with crib sizes is not limited.
Is the hype real? Mostly yes, with one caveat
Honestly, this is the best Jordan 1 release of 2026 for someone who wants one pair that will still look right in five years. Black and royal does not date the way a collab colourway does, and a leather toe box ages better than the suede did. Buy it at ₹16,995, wear it through the Delhi winter with raw denim, and stop refreshing resale apps.
The caveat is fit. A fresh High OG runs a touch long, and the toe box is narrower than a Dunk's, so if you sit between sizes, take the half size down. The collar also needs a week to soften. Do not plan a ten-hour day in them on day one.
Styling takes no effort. Peter Moore's colour block was doing the work in 1985 and it still is, so keep everything else quiet: straight black denim, a white tee, no other blue. Mumbai is a Low city now. A High in this colour outside a Bandra coffee shop still gets a second look. Delhi gets it for winter, with the collar poking out under a cuff, and that is the best it will ever look.
How to get a pair
In the US it is Nike SNKRS, Finish Line, Foot Locker and select Jordan retailers, according to Athlon Sports' round-up. In India the picture is simpler. VegNonVeg's listing was live with no sold-out tag on the morning of 10 October, and it is worth putting a size in the cart now rather than waiting for a restock that may not come. Superkicks' search page would not render for us this morning, so we cannot confirm their allocation. Nike India's own site has stopped running SNKRS-style launches, which we covered in our guide to buying limited Nike drops in India.
If the Royal sells through before you get there, we keep a rotating stock of authentic Jordan pairs on SNKRS CART, including the Satin Shadow. And if you are weighing a Royal High against the Low that Nike keeps pushing, read our Jordan 1 Low vs High breakdown for India before you decide.
