About
The Nike Terminator is a basketball sneaker introduced by Nike in 1985, unveiled around the 1985 NCAA Tournament in colors tied to the Georgetown Hoyas, whom Nike outfitted following the team's 1984 national championship. Nike also produced college-specific editions for Michigan and St. John's, and some Georgetown pairs carry Hoyas across the heel instead of the oversized NIKE wordmark that earned the shoe its Big Nike nickname. The high-top silhouette uses color-blocked leather panels with exposed contrast stitching and a heel lace loop for wrapping laces around the shoe. Nike's 1985 Dunk borrowed design elements from the Terminator alongside the Legend and Air Force 1, placing it among the era's formative basketball silhouettes. After fading from the lineup, Nike revived the Terminator High in original colorways in 2022 and added low-top versions in 2023, including Be True to Your School HBCU editions and a COMME des Garcons Homme Plus collaboration retailing at $235.
