About
The Nike KD 6 launched in 2013 as Kevin Durant's sixth signature shoe with Nike and became one of the most celebrated designs of his career. Created by lead designer Leo Chang, the KD 6 introduced a dramatically lower profile than its predecessors, sitting closer to the court for an enhanced feel during play. The upper combined a lightweight mesh with Flywire cables that fan from the laces to the midsole, locking the foot in place without adding bulk. A full-length Zoom Air unit in the midsole delivered responsive cushioning across heel-to-toe. What made the KD 6 iconic beyond its performance spec was its storytelling approach to colorways: each release in the signature series referenced chapters of Durant's personal history — his childhood home, his mother's birthday, and the roads he grew up on. The shoe was worn during Durant's 2013–14 MVP season with the Oklahoma City Thunder, cementing its place in both basketball and sneaker history. A 2026 retro confirmed in late 2025 brought the silhouette back in original colorways.
