About
The Air Jordan 4 was released in December 1988 and designed by Tinker Hatfield. It was the first Air Jordan model to be released on the global market, available in four original colourways: White/Black, Black/Cement Grey, White/Fire Red-Black, and Off White/Military Blue. Nike enlisted director Spike Lee — wearing the shoe in his then-in-production film Do the Right Thing — to front the advertising campaign, marking one of the earliest celebrity-crossover campaigns in sneaker history. Michael Jordan wore the Air Jordan 4 when he hit 'The Shot', a buzzer-beater in Game 5 of the 1989 NBA First Round against the Cleveland Cavaliers, cementing the shoe in basketball lore. The AJ4 features visible mesh side panels, moulded plastic wings on the ankle, and a visible Air unit in the heel. It has been consistently retroed, with the White Cement Reimagined (2023) and Black Cat colourways generating significant resale demand in India and globally.
