About

The Nike Zoom KD IV is Kevin Durant's fourth Nike signature basketball shoe, releasing globally on December 3, 2011 for the 2011-12 NBA season, at a retail price that stayed under $100. Its mid-cut upper used triple-layered Hyperfuse construction fused into a nearly seamless, lightweight, breathable one-piece base, paired with a forefoot Zoom Air unit for low-profile responsive cushioning and a new Adaptive Fit strap system for lockdown support. On December 17, 2011, Nike released a limited Nerf edition (style 517408-400, Concord/Bright Crimson-Black-Cactus) in a run of just 300 pairs, developed with Nike Basketball's Leo Chang, Erick Goto and Dolores Thompson in partnership with toy brand Hasbro. The design referenced one of Nerf's earliest basketball hoop toys, with Nerf and KD35 branding on the tongue tags, and shipped in a special box containing a miniature Nerf hoop and ball, its lid doubling as a backboard. Durant recalled playing on makeshift Nerf hoops as a kid growing up. The colorway sparked lines outside House of Hoops stores and became one of the most sought-after releases of 2011.
