About

The Air Jordan 6 was released in 1991, designed by Tinker Hatfield and inspired by the lines of a German sports car — a design philosophy that gave the silhouette its sleek, aggressive proportions. The shoe debuted at a historic moment: Michael Jordan wore it throughout the 1990–91 season as he led the Chicago Bulls to their first NBA Championship, making the Jordan 6 inseparable from the start of his dynasty. Hatfield incorporated a thumb loop on the tongue for easier wear and a clean heel pull-tab, both functional details that became signature elements of the design. The Jordan 6 Carmine colourway — white leather base, carmine nubuck overlays, black accents — remains one of the most iconic colourways in the entire Air Jordan lineage. The shoe later gained a dedicated cultural following in Asia when the manga series Slam Dunk featured its protagonist Hanamichi Sakuragi wearing the Jordan 6, prompting Nike to release special editions with artwork from the series in 2014 to celebrate the connection.
