About
The Air Jordan 11, designed by Tinker Hatfield, debuted in 1995 and is widely regarded as one of the most significant basketball shoes ever made. Hatfield introduced a patent leather mudguard — chosen because patent leather is lightweight compared to genuine leather and does not stretch — giving the shoe a distinctly formal look that stood apart from all other basketball footwear. The upper is built from ballistic mesh for breathability and reduced weight, while a carbon fiber spring plate runs through the translucent outsole for torsional rigidity. Michael Jordan wore the Air Jordan 11 during the 1995–96 Chicago Bulls championship run. The shoe's appearance in the 1996 film Space Jam in the Black/Concord colourway made it a cultural touchstone beyond basketball. Tinker Hatfield has stated the Air Jordan 11 is his favourite design; Michael Jordan has called it his favourite Air Jordan. In India, Jordan 11 retros — particularly the Concord and Space Jam colourways — are among the highest-demand drops on Nike SNKRS and resale platforms, regularly fetching significant premiums above retail.
