The Adidas Campus began in the 1970s under the original name "Tournament," a basketball shoe before being renamed "Campus" in the 1980s. The shoe distinguished itself from other Adidas silhouettes like the Samba and Gazelle through its notably thicker construction: a bigger sole, a larger upper, and wider Three-Stripe branding along the sides. Over time it transitioned from the court into lifestyle wear. The Campus 80s variant maintains the original 1970s aesthetic and was reintroduced in the late 2010s. The Campus 00s, released in 2022, builds on a chunkier design influenced by 2000s skateboarding and lifestyle footwear, featuring suede construction, an expanded sole and upper, and wide laces. For skate-specific use, the Campus ADV offers improved cushioning, a reinforced upper, and a strengthened heel for trick performance. Notable collaborations include releases with Bad Bunny, Korn, and South Park. In India, the Campus 00s gained widespread popularity from 2023 for its chunky retro silhouette and versatile colourways.
