On Saturday, 5 September 2026, Dover Street Market opens its doors in London, Ginza, Los Angeles, New York and Paris with one shoe on the table: the COMME des GARÇONS Homme Plus x Air Jordan 11, priced at $358 USD, £354 GBP and €370 EUR according to Sneaker Bar Detroit. Two pairs. Black on black under style code IV7639-001, white with black under IV7639-100. No SNKRS calendar entry, no Nike India listing, no VegNonVeg raffle.
That is the whole story for most of us in India, and it is also exactly why this pair matters. Rei Kawakubo's label first showed the shoe on the Paris Fashion Week runway in January 2026, and eight months later it lands as the most restricted Jordan release of the year. If you care about where the Air Jordan 11 goes next as a silhouette, this is the one to study, even if your wallet stays closed.
What CDG Did to Tinker Hatfield's 1995 Design
The Air Jordan 11 has always been about the patent leather mudguard. Tinker Hatfield put it there in 1995 so Michael Jordan could wear a basketball shoe with a tuxedo, and every retro since has kept that shine exactly where it was. Homme Plus moves it. Hypebeast's report from 3 September describes a gloss finish that continues down onto the midsole, so the shine now runs from the mudguard straight through the tooling with no break. Hypebeast quotes the brand describing the change plainly: "The slight tweak has a strong impact on the design, giving it a more noticeable, extended shine."
Everything above the mudguard is soft, full-grain cowhide leather in a single tone. Sneaker Bar Detroit lists the branding: debossed Jumpman logos, "COMME des GARÇONS HOMME PLUS" text running around the collar, and a tongue tag reading "Homme Plus" in a typeface borrowed from the original Air Jordan XI tongue. There is no ballistic mesh on show. The shoe reads as a dress loafer that happens to have a Jumpman on it.
Honestly, the black pair is the better object. Monochrome patent on black leather hides the seam between the two materials, and the extended shine does what CDG intended. The white pair will show every crease in the leather and every scuff on the glossy midsole within a week of wear. Buy white to photograph, buy black to actually put on your feet.
Why the Fashion Crowd Wanted This More Than Sneakerheads Did
This is not the first time Kawakubo's house has touched a Jordan. In August 2019, the CDG Homme Plus x Air Jordan 1 dropped by surprise at Dover Street Market New York and the COMME des GARÇONS flagship for $345, as Hypebeast reported at the time, with an exaggerated tongue, a grommet belt collar and hanging metal rings pulled from the Fall/Winter 2019 collection. That shoe was loud. This one is silent, and the silence is the point.
The campaign was shot inside the COMME des GARÇONS Aoyama flagship in Tokyo, a store that opened in 1980, with the shoes styled against the Autumn/Winter 2026 Homme Plus tailoring. Nice Kicks' coverage calls this the first time an outside label has been handed the Air Jordan 11 High. For a fashion house to get that shoe first, and then strip it back rather than dress it up, tells you who this release is actually for. It is a suiting shoe that will sell to people who already own the suits.
The India Maths: ₹33,800 Before a Single Rupee of Duty
There is no Dover Street Market in India and no COMME des GARÇONS store either. The nearest DSM to Mumbai is Singapore, and Singapore is not even on the 5 September release list. So the only honest route is import, and import on a $358 shoe hurts.
At the 4 September 2026 rate of ₹94.43 to the dollar, per Trading Economics, retail converts to roughly ₹33,800 before shipping. Indian customs then applies 35% basic duty on footwear, a 10% social welfare surcharge calculated on that duty, and 18% IGST on the total, as laid out in Deepbeez's 2026 import guide. That stack compounds to about 1.634 times the declared value. Run the numbers and a pair that clears customs honestly lands near ₹55,200, and that is before a courier or a proxy takes a cut.
For scale, the same Sneaker Bar Detroit September calendar lists the APB and JAIDE Air Jordan 11 Low collabs at $200 and $205. The CDG pair costs 1.7 times as much for the same tooling. If a Delhi or Mumbai reseller tells you they have pairs on 6 September at "just" ₹60,000, understand that they have barely marked it up over landed cost. That is how brutal the duty is.
Sizing note: the Air Jordan 11 runs true to size but narrow across the forefoot because of the mudguard, and patent leather does not stretch. If you have a wide foot and you are proxying a pair you cannot try on, go up half a size.
Is the Hype Real, and Should You Chase It?
StockX already has listings live for both style codes, but on the day of writing the pages return no last-sale data, because the shoe has not released. There is no market yet. Anyone quoting you a resale premium this week is pricing your impatience, not a real trade. We will not invent a number here.
Our take: as a design, this is the best Air Jordan 11 in a decade, and the extended patent midsole is the kind of one-line edit that makes you wonder why Jordan Brand never did it themselves. As a purchase for an Indian buyer, it is a hard no unless you are already flying through London or Tokyo on 5 September and can walk into a DSM with your own feet. At ₹55,000 landed, the shoe stops being a sneaker and becomes a piece of Homme Plus tailoring. Buy it on those terms or not at all.
If you do land a pair, wear it the way the campaign does: black pleated trousers, cropped above the ankle, and nothing else on the shoe. It does not need a graphic tee and it will fight a pair of cargos.
The Air Jordan 11 has spent thirty years being the Jordan you wear to a wedding. On 5 September 2026 Rei Kawakubo's studio finally made one that looks like it knows that. For a Jordan you can actually buy in India this month, browse our Jordan collection while stock lasts.
