About
The Nike Zoom Kobe V is Kobe Bryant's fifth Nike signature basketball shoe, unveiled by Nike and Bryant in December 2009 and announced as the brand's lowest-profile and lightest basketball shoe to date. Designed by Eric Avar, Nike's Performance Footwear Creative Director, working with Nike's Sports Research Lab, the shoe weighed 10.6 ounces, one ounce lighter than the Kobe IV, with a 10mm forefoot profile. Bryant drew on the low-cut, close-fit feel of soccer boots, telling Nike he wanted a shoe that let him cut sharply the way elite footballers do in lightweight, low-top footwear. It released first online via a Nike iD campaign on December 26, 2009, then in stores in China on January 1, 2010, followed by the U.S., Canada, and Europe on January 16, 2010, at a retail price of . Bryant and his Lakers teammates wore the Kobe V, notably the black, del sol yellow, and white colorway and the yellow-and-black "Bruce Lee" pair, during the team's run to the 2010 NBA championship.
