About
Converse introduced the Chuck 70 in 2013 as a premium retro take on the Chuck Taylor All-Star, rebuilding the shoe to the specifications of basketball sneakers from the late 1960s and early 1970s. Compared to the standard Chuck Taylor, the Chuck 70 uses thicker 12oz canvas, a taller rubber midsole and foxing, extra cushioning, a smaller toe cap, and reinforced stitching along the sidewall. It also swaps the modern three-piece outsole for a one-piece rubber sole and replaces the white heel patch with a black one, alongside a distinct vintage-style "Chuck Taylor All Star" license plate on the heel. Winged tongue stitching and 35mm rubber taping round out the heritage details that separate it from its everyday sibling. Available in both high-top and low-top builds, the Chuck 70 has become Converse's flagship platform for collaborations, working with labels and artists across streetwear and entertainment. Decades after the original Chuck Taylor's basketball-court debut, the Chuck 70 keeps its old-school construction alive as a mainstream canvas sneaker built for durability, comfort, and archive-accurate style.
