About
The Adidas Copa Mundial is a football boot manufactured by Adidas in Scheinfeld, Germany. The boots were designed for the 1982 FIFA World Cup held in Spain and have gone through very slight changes since then. Copa Mundial translates from Spanish as World Cup. The boot features a kangaroo leather upper with additional leather supports from the heel, intended to improve durability and stability. Since 2001 it has been the world's best-selling football boot and serves as the official boot of football referees in professional leagues worldwide. Notable athletes including Zinedine Zidane, Diego Maradona, and Franz Beckenbauer have worn the Copa Mundial across top-level competition. The boot has seen minimal design evolution over the decades, with Adidas releasing a white version in 2013 and a Samba Pack edition for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. The laceless Copa 19+, debuted by Paulo Dybala, arrived in 2018. Manufacturing remains in Scheinfeld, Germany, between Würzburg and Nuremberg, making it one of the few Adidas products still produced in Europe.
